Emergency generating sets

Secure energy supply in the event of power failures

In the event of a power failure on a ship, all safety-related equipment is supplied with power via an emergency generating set. It must be ready for use at all times in any operating condition of the ship and must start immediately and automatically in the event of a main power failure. To increase the reliability, the generating set is equipped with a redundant starting system (with two independent energy sources).

The start and operation of the emergency generating set must be guaranteed even if the ship, depending on the type, is in an inclined position of up to 10° in front/rear or in a lateral position of up to 30° in the water. The capacity of the generating set is designed during the planning phase for the construction of a new ship.

Lindenberg emergency generating sets consist of fast running diesel engines of well-known manufacturers and high-quality generators with double-bearing alternators. The design and construction of the generating sets meet all requirements with respect to operational safety and the operating conditions of the ship. All relevant assemblies are certified for use in the marine sector. In addition, the generating sets meet all requirements in accordance with the regulations of the relevant marine classification society. They check whether the design and layout of the generating sets ensures safe operation of the ship and issue the necessary certificates after successful approval procedures and functional testing of the generating sets.
